Bing is implementing a "safe preference" for search results to protect children.

A lot of parents are going to love this. May even bring them in more users.

Nice one on their part. Google has "SafeSearch" for that though, but by the sounds of it Bing is going even more in-depth when it comes to child protection. Hopefully it'll bring in more users for their sake, it is a pretty useful feature after all.

While it does sound good, it's better for parents to take the necessary precautions to avoid any 'accidents'. While kids may use search engines to find whatever it is they are looking for, chances are they might land on another search engine from the SERPs and out of curiosity, use it. IMO parents should use a reliable web filter that will protect their kids not just when they are using search engines. They'll be safe any time they are on the web.
